Wound Healing Service

QUT Health Clinics - Wound Healing Service

QUT Health Clinics - The Wound Healing Service is dedicated to improving quality of life for people in the community with chronic wounds. The service is operated by Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and a team of researchers.

Wounds may occur on any part of the body and some wounds take a long time to heal or reoccur on a regular basis. The significant pain and immobility of chronic wounds can interfere with a person's quality of life.

The Wound Healing Service provides comprehensive assessments, cost-effective and evidence-based wound treatments and interventions, strategies to help prevent wound recurrence and ongoing support and education to promote healthy living and wound improvement.

Wounds treated include:

  • Leg ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Leg swelling
  • Eczema
  • Dermatitis
  • Non-healing surgical wounds.

The service also aims to prevent wounds from occurring through early assessment and intervention. A referral from your GP is preferred.

In 2014 the Wound Healing Service will continue their Well Leg Checks and Health Promotion talks. The Health Promotion talks cover topics such as Chronic Disease and Diabetes, Nutrition and Wound Healing and Exercise to Improve Venous Return. Please contact the clinic for further information regarding dates and times.
