Important information COVID-19 Update

We are committed to the health and safety of our clients and community, and have implemented measures to increase the hygiene of our facilities and ensure that our services deliver best practice care.

For the immediate term, we will need to limit our clinic services in line with changing protocols and safety measures. Please call ahead on 07 3138 9777 with enquiries about the current services available, or email healthclinics@qut.edu.au outside of operating hours.

We look forward to resuming our full breadth of community services when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, look after your wellbeing and those around you. We are #InThisTogether.

Paediatric services at QUT Health Clinics

QUT Health Clinics provides many services to young clients through our Podiatry, Optometry, Psychology and Counselling, and Nutrition and Dietetics clinics.

We also provide free screenings to hundreds of school-aged children every year during our Back to School Health Checks and School Holiday Health Checks events.

Please give us a call on 07 3138 9777 to make an appointment or if you would like more information about any of our services.

Podiatry

The Podiatry Clinic offers dedicated Paediatric clinics every week, including evening and Saturday morning appointments to fit in with your schedule.

Parents are often concerned when children complain of heel or leg pain, or are frequently falling over, or show signs of in-toeing, out-toeing or toe-walking. Young people participating in sports may be experiencing pain, injury or require specialist footwear.

The Podiatry Clinic can offer reassurance, monitoring, and intervention when needed for conditions that will not naturally resolve with age. The clinic also provides footwear advice and gait analysis for sporting performance, as well as strapping and soft tissue therapies.

Initial and subsequent appointments for paediatric Podiatry are just $20. Please call us on 07 3138 9777 to book or if you have any queries.

Optometry

Good vision is important to a child’s education and learning ability, and can also influence physical development such as fine and gross motor skills. Children require both visual clarity and visual efficiency (eye teaming and accurate eye movements) for success in schoolwork and sport.

School-aged children may complain of headaches or have difficulty seeing the whiteboard in class. Parents and teachers may notice them sitting too close to the TV, rubbing their eyes frequently or seeming to lose their place when reading.

The Optometry Paediatric Clinic provides free and comprehensive optometric services to young people – no Medicare card required. The paediatric clinic has a wide range of equipment to test for conditions affecting vision, eye alignment and focusing, depth perception, visual information processing and ocular health. Treatment options available through our clinic may include spectacles, contact lenses, vision therapy and lifestyle advice.

Please call 07 3138 9777 to make an appointment or for more information.

Initial or Review Consultations with the Psychology and Counselling Clinic are $40/$20 Concession.

To make an appointment or for all enquiries, please call 07 3138 0999. Appointments are also available via Telehealth (video conferencing from home).

A dedicated Sports Nutrition clinic can help active young people to meet their dietary requirements for optimum performance in their chosen sports.

Initial Consultations are $40/$30 Concession, while subsequent Review Consultations are $25/$20 Concession.
