Eating Disorders
The QUT Health Clinics Eating Disorders Clinic treats clients holistically via a range of monitoring, therapy and interventions provided by students working under the supervision of qualified professional clinicians.
The Eating Disorders Clinic is open each Thursday to clients 16 years and older.
Book an appointment by clicking the link and filling in the referral form to join the waitlist. The waitlist will OPEN and CLOSE so we can ensure that there are reasonable waiting periods.

- Medical monitoring by GP, RN and nursing students
- Psychotherapy by supervised provisional psychologist in fifth year training

Esben Strodl

Associate Professor Esben Strodl is the Director of the QHC Eating Disorders Clinic. He teaches in the masters courses in the School of Psychology and Counselling at QUT. He is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society, a Fellow of the APS College of Health Psychologists and a Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.
Assoc Professor Strodl’s research interests are in understanding the psychological mechanisms that cause and maintain eating disorders and disordered eating. He is also interested in developing novel psychological interventions to improve the outcome of adolescents and adults with eating disorders. In terms of teaching, Dr Strodl has a strong focus on interprofessional learning to help new therapists maximise their effectiveness in helping individuals and families influenced by eating disorders.
Examples of recent research conducted at the QUT EDC include Meta-Emotion Therapy for Complex Trauma and Binge Eating Disorder and DieteticāLed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for ARFID.

Loretta Smith is the QHC Eatings Disorders Nurse.
Practitioner Fee for Service provided by the General Practitioner
Consultations are billed at the Medicare Benefits Scheme rate.
Psychological services by provisional psychologists are:
Initial Consultation $65 ($40 concession)
Subsequent Consultation $45 ($25 concession)
If you are a new client and the referral list is OPEN, please fill in the online form to be added to the waitlist. The Eating Disorders Clinic Nurse will contact you to triage your application.
